The United Diocesan Youth Council of Limerick,
Killaloe & Ardfert is charged with responsibility for planning,
co-ordinating and evaluation of a balanced diocesan youth programme for the
United Diocese of Limerick of Limerick Killaloe & Ardfert.
These programmes are aimed primarily at young people
from 10 - 18 years. Our programmes are targeted mainly at young members of the
Church of Ireland, however we welcome participation from young people of all
denominations.
Mission Statement
The Diocesan Youth Council committee have carefully
considered past operation, future hopes and concerns in developing a youth
ministry Mission Statement.
The following has been formulated as our Mission Statement
for youth ministry in the United Dioceses of Limerick, Killaloe & Ardfert:
“To provide opportunities which will
facilitate and encourage Christian spiritual growth and fellowship among young
people from throughout the United Dioceses of Limerick & Killaloe”
The Diocesan Youth Council has identified a number
of key priorities as critical to the delivery of any future youth ministry.
These
are:
(a)
The encouragement of enthusiasm and informed
attitudes in relation to the development of parochial youth ministry.
(b)
The exploration of effective ways of identifying and
subsequently training youth leaders primarily for youth leadership at parochial
level.
(c)
The ongoing support and resourcing of youth ministry
at parochial level.
(d)
The maintenance of an overall programme of youth
ministry events and activities at diocesan level.
(e)
To ensure that financial resources that exist within
the church are made available and accessible to those involved in the delivery
of youth ministry programmes.
